Copy / Paste Isn't Working
- Make sure you're using MultiField CopyCat on a regular webpage, not a browser-internal page or the Chrome Web Store. We currently don't support Google Excel which require extra access for extenson to be approved.
- Reload the page if you recently installed or updated the extension.
- Ensure that correct pasting mode is selected (enable/disable smart match).
- Make sure your copied values haven't been cleared.
- If you're on the Free plan, check whether you've reached your Copy & Paste usage limit.
- Try Copy All Fields to check whether the issue is specific to Dragbox selection, and vice versa.
- Test the same action on the Practice Form.
If the Practice Form works, the issue may be specific to the form or website you're using.
Autofill Isn't Working
- Make sure the Autofill Setting contains saved form data.
- For Autofill on page load, make sure the setting is Enabled and has a matching URL pattern.
- Wait until the form has loaded, then try Autofill This Page or manually apply a specific Autofill Setting.
- If only some fields remain empty, make sure those fields were saved in the Autofill Setting.
- Edit the Field Selector in the saved settings to target the element specifically if needed.
Smart Match Didn't Match a Field
Smart Match may leave some fields unchanged when it cannot find a suitable match.
Try copying a smaller group of fields, or use Sequential Match if the source and destination forms have the same field order.
For recurring fields that use different wording, Pro users can create a Custom Field Group.
Keyboard Shortcut Isn't Working
- Click the webpage once to make sure it has focus.
- Check Shortcut Settings to confirm the current shortcut.
- For browser commands, make sure the command is assigned in Chrome's extension shortcut settings.
- Reload pages that were already open when you changed the shortcut.
- Try another shortcut if the current combination is already used by the website, browser, operating system, or another extension.
- For an Autofill Setting Shortcut, make sure a saved Autofill Setting is still assigned to that slot.
Dynamic and Slow-loading Forms
Wait until the form fields appear before running Copy, Paste, or Autofill This Page.
For automatic Autofill on page load, Pro users can use a Custom Autofill Delay to give slower forms more time to load.
Iframes and Complex Forms
Some embedded or highly customized forms may limit what MultiField CopyCat can access.
If a form isn't working as expected:
- wait until the form has fully loaded;
- try a smaller visible section;
- try Autofill This Page after the fields appear;
- open the embedded form directly when the website provides that option; or
- fill unsupported fields manually.
Some browser-protected pages, file uploads, and inaccessible embedded content cannot be filled by the extension.
Known limitations
MultiField CopyCat works with most websites that use standard form fields, but some pages and controls may not be supported.
MultiField CopyCat may not work with:
- file and image upload fields;
- spreadsheets and spreadsheet-like editors, such as Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel Online;
- browser-internal pages, such as
chrome://pages, and Chrome Web Store pages; - some embedded forms or iframes; and
- highly customized form controls that browser extensions cannot access.
Some websites use custom form implementations that may behave differently from standard form fields. If a form isn't working as expected, try the troubleshooting steps above or contact support.
Before contacting support
If the problem continues, include the page URL where the issue occur if it is safe to share, what you were trying to do, and which fields didn't work.
Screenshots or a short recording can also help. Remove any personal or sensitive form data before sharing them.
